Indian politics in current times

We should not be agitated by status quo so much that we decide to take a plunge into the unknown without examining the alternative - Arun Shourie

This is a short article on where we currently stand in Indian politics. Indian politics right now is in dark place. Not just in regards to character and policies of ruling BJP regime of which i have written enough about but also the character and agenda of main political opposition. We know that present ruling regime is a Fascistic Pathocracy (1, 23). However, many Indian liberals, leftists, BJP critics have become suckers for political opposition whose main agenda is Caste census which is also ultra-reactionary, diversionary and destructive.

The ruling regime is bad undoubtedly. Incompetent in policy making, polarizing on social issues and thoroughly corrupted in governance. But the caste census agenda of political opposition - INDI alliance, is also thoroughly destabilizing, destructive and diversionary as i have explained in detail in previous article. The central problem of India are structural in nature that includes its political system and Neoliberal economic system. To solve problems of poverty, hunger, unemployment, falling standards of living and environmental crisis, India needs sound & sensible macroeconomic policy NOT diversionary quota reservation. All this i have discussed in detail.

The imbecilic idea of caste census was first invented by political cretins of backward north Bimaru states (UP, Bihar, MP etc). This idea is now being latched onto by Congress Party which has been decimated as a national force in recent years and now trying to reinvent its national political identity.

Success of INDI alliance is a matter of luck and fruits of errors by the BJP. This is not the result of any great manifesto or party program or any moral victory of democracy. The idea of destructive caste census should be dropped and constructive ideas for economic and political reforms should be contemplated. (quote from my previous article)

Though Congress lost their 3rd consecutive national elections this years, they had managed to increase their parliamentary seats. This was largely a matter of anti-incumbency sentiments and campaign mistakes of BJP. However, the INDI alliance politicians out of foolishness assumed that this temporary & limited success is a political turnaround because of their caste census appeal. This limited success turned out to be short lived as Congress/INDI alliance lost critical state elections like in Haryana and Maharashtra. Defeat in these two states is a great setback for Congress.

In Haryana, the farmer agitation had greatly damaged the reputation of BJP so Congress was certain of its victory there. However, BJP managed to pick up an easy win. In Maharashtra, the farmer distress, Maratha agitation and massive corruption of BJP indicated that MVA (alliance of Congress, Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar) will make a comeback. But Congress again faced a massive defeat. With Congress crumbling in popular appeal, the opposition parties are again splintering. In Delhi, AAP is distancing itself from Congress. After state election loses, the Congress alliance partners are expressing complaints with Congress central leadership.

Speaking from broader perspective, the political system of India itself is deeply flawed and India is facing a constitutional failure. Something which Indian progressives, self proclaimed lovers of constitution are unable to understand. These progressives and activists have parochial view of India and they only grasp hot button issues (Adani, Hindutva, EVM, Dalit rights etc) which are genuine but they fail to understand the broader failure of Indian political system, its economy and society. So far i don't see any political alternative in present system that can reform India. Hence i don't see much need of political analysis on same old problems right now.
