India - Pakistan situation update

Image
Breaking up with usual writing, i see it's necessary to talk about situation at border. Some side note. A destructive decision has been taken by Modi government of doing a caste census. This news has been buried in headlines of crisis at the border. I am writing a detailed piece to elaborate on it which will be complete soon. Moving on to subject at hand. Shortly today, a ceasefire had been announced and hopefully this will be maintained towards normalization at border.  On matter of conflict - the situation is fluid, information we get is mostly unreliable, fake news is rampant. There isn't much to go on to make a definitive analysis of the situation. Most importantly both India & Pakistan are ruled by regimes who have habit of operating in opacity and on basis of disinformation & propaganda. People of both nations don't know the objective reality of their national policies most of the time. The best i can do is make some speculations and consider some scenarios in...

India - Pakistan situation

The tension between India and Pakistan has increased suddenly in last few days. There have been small raids by both countries across the border and LOC through fighter jets, drones and Missiles. Both sides have minor losses though we don't know exact details as media in both countries is unreliable. In India, Pakistani media sources & including many social media sources have been long been suspended. I would skip details and get to bigger questions. Do we need war with Pakistan? We have sufficient ways to respond through proxy & asymmetric means against any terror attack in India, especially if it's limited to Kashmir.  What is objective of current Indian military operations? I don't know strategy of Indian military. My speculation is that India wants to demonstrate 'escalation dominance' over Pakistan....

At this point, i strongly advice you to read Schumpeter's book - 'Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy' - to understand the material of my analysis. The early section of Schumpeter's book is advanced philosophy on political economy. Reader may skip it and read the standalone section on Democracy although it's recommended to read the book in its entirety to understand the full concept of Democracy.  In last few years, intellectual curiosity drove me to research on economics and political economy. I discovered that neoclassical economic theory and Neoliberalism is a destructive doctrine. The tenets of neoclassical theory - Unfettered markets & laissez faire, arbitrariness & instrumentalism (like arbitrary debt & deficit limits), rational choice theory & rational expectations, confidence fairy, crowding out theory...
